CESE has a long-established Small Projects Programme through which one-off grants are made to some 400 groups each year. The newer Programme of Strategic Support provides funding for innovative actions by networks of organisations. Both programmes are complemented by activities of training and institutional development. CESE also works directly with churches to promote and strengthen ecumenical service and to encourage inter-faith dialogue.
CESE supports projects throughout Brazil while giving priority to projects in the north-east, north and central-west regions. In all aspects of its work, CESE is responsive to initiatives that will benefit women.
The Small Projects Program is CESE’s main program providing small, timely, short-term grants to organizations and groups. In this way, CESE can broaden its impact by supporting a significant number of initiatives, avoid creating dependency and respect the autonomy of groups and organizations.
Since 1973, more than 10 thousand organizations have submitted 16.5 thousand proposals. CESE has provided support to over 9 thousand of these initiatives and currently funds about 400 projects per year.
Through its Strategic Support Program, CESE funds innovative social actions undertaken by networks of organizations to influence public policy, strengthen democracy and justice and promote human rights.
