Ação para crianças

WHAT IS IT?

The Action for Children Programme aims to support initiatives that fight for the rights of children, adolescents and youth in Brazil.   Its aim is to encourage people to organize a fundraising activity.  At the end of these activities CESE doubles the amount raised and sends it to projects that defend such rights.

The Action for Children Programme has an international partnership with the following organizations: Smile Foundation (India), Soul City (South Africa) and KCDF (Kenya); this is supported by the Dutch government thorough the Wilde Ganzen organization.

HOW IT WORKS

1 – A good small project to secure the rights of children and adolescents requires resources and support;

2 – A local group – made up of churches, schools, unions, neighbourhood associations, etc. – wants to support an organization that works to secure the rights of children and adolescents;

3 – CESE will support the construction of this partnership and will double the amount raised by the mobilizing group.

EXAMPLE:

1 – A crèche needs R$6,000.00 to construct a concrete plate water cistern;

2 – The students of the municipal school organize a bazaar and raise R$3,000.00;

3 – CESE doubles the value and supports the crèche to the tune of R$6,000.00

CESE’S SIDE OF THIS PARTNERSHIP

• As well as doubling the value, CESE also offers promotional materials;

• We promote workshops on fundraising at the local level with groups supported by the AFC Programme. And we also make a Fundraising Guide available to the “local group” (Click here to download the guide – in Portuguese);

• CESE’s website publicises the fundraising activities;

• CESE will put information about the project’s results and its financial accounts on its website for all to access.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

You too can set up your own “solidarity group” and help CESE to support an increasing number of projects that defend children’s rights.

The local fundraising group is made up of people sympathetic to and interested in supporting good social projects.  It may be a group of students; a church group; a group of football supporters; employees of a company or a group of mothers.  Ultimately, it is any group of people interested in rolling up their sleeves and supporting the guarantee of children’s and adolescents’ rights.

The group must fundraise for a project that it wants to support through a fundraising activity. This could, for example, be: a bazaar, bingo, charitable dinner, etc.  You will find more tips on how to carry out such an activity on our Other Activities page.

Local groups must designate an organization to submit a small project proposal to the programme.  Should the local group not know any organizations that work with children and adolescents, they can choose one of the Action for Children Programme projects.

Participants in fundraising events must be informed about how the resources donated to the projects are applied.

The Action for Children Programme operates throughout the year and projects proposals may be sent in at any time.

WHAT IS A PROPONENT ORGANIZATION?

CESE support popular social movements, associations, unions, grassroots groups, cooperatives, forums and coalitions, non-governmental organizations that provide support and assistance to popular movements, church social pastorals and diakonias.  CESE does not support individuals, companies, universities or governmental organizations.

Projects in the Action for Children Programme must benefit children and/or adolescents directly or indirectly, even if the organization does not focus exclusively on these groups.
