In the next march 9th CESE will launch, in Salvador, the book “Quilombolas Rights: a study of the impact of ecumenical cooperation” in the Seminar Quilombolas Resistance: challenges and perspectives, in the Department of Public Prosecutions of Bahia. The study, launched nationally last year, aims to evaluate the impact of the support of the Brazilians members of the Act Alliance to quilombolas communities and groups from 1996 to 2009.
The study has the support of Christian Aid and EED, and it is a joint-project taken by CESE, Koinonia – Presença Ecumênica and Fundação Luterana de Diaconia (FLD), that have studied quilombolas organizations in five different regions of Brazil: São Francisco do Paraguaçu (BA), Baixo Sul (BA) Ilha de Marambaia (RJ), in the states of Maranhão and Rio Grande do Sul.
In addition to those cases, the report also presents the actual context on the black communities in Brazil, as well as outputs on the main impacts, learning, challenges and recommendations.
