CESE in the COVID-19 pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic that shook the world in 2020 and which constitutes one of the greatest humanitarian crises of modern times, once again places human rights and the defence of life at the centre of discussions. The state of global calamity redirected our focus and our activities and required urgent decision-making. Although the pandemic threatens the lives of all, it has a much greater impact on groups and populations that already confront social, economic and racial inequalities and on those who live in constant vulnerability: populations whose basic rights are denied, and whose access to health and sanitation services, the right to food and food security are seriously compromised. CESE has supported initiatives from grassroots movements that represent the struggle for resistance and the guarantee of rights, prioritizing emergency and humanitarian initiatives in the fight against the advance of the coronavirus. In the following link, we have collated information about some of the activities CESE has carried out since the start of the pandemic.
